Joining the Wednesday afternoon Section is subject to consultation with Gloria Bonnell at gloria.bonnell@ndtc.org.uk before booking your class. This is so Gloria can ascertain your dog's background and the type of training he/she has had. if any, this information gets you and your dog into the correct class for your needs. Also, to confirm class availability.
Training is in all weather, so appropriate clothing is required.
Note: in high temperatures of over 24, or extreme wet, snow or ice, please check our club Facebook page for information regarding closures.
We have a puppy class for those available on a Wednesday afternoon, which covers the puppy foundation and basic puppy training. Once completed, you can move on to other classes to continue your training.
Our Wednesday afternoon training covers the three levels of the KC Good Citizen dog training scheme, which will be covered in your class. Members are offered, when ready, the chance to take the test if they so wish, but it is not mandatory.
Please download and read the KC Good Citizen DESCRIPTION OF EXERCISES https://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/media/3512/gcdsbronze.pdf

It is highly recomanded to vaccinate all puppies/dogs to reduce the risk of infection.
The standard for each session is a group of 6 handlers (and dogs) with 1 instructor.
We recommend a standard flat collar and clip-on lead.
Retractable leads are not recommended for training.
Slip leads are allowed if used correctly, slip leads are normally used for Gundogs.
We do not allow choker or prong collars unless there is a good reason, please talk to one of the instructors before joining a class.
Yes everyone on the NDTC grounds must be a member for insurance reason.
You can bring as many puppies/dogs to a class, as long as it is one dog to one handler.
when you book the class: Ticket selection, general addmission, purchase one ticket per dog.
If a course or class has the Waitlist option, not all will have this.
If a course/class is full, or has already started, and you select to go on the waitlist, your name is added to a list for that course/class, if a person drops out or more spaces are made available, the next person on the Waitlist is notified by email, offering them the course/class.
We will only contact you if a course/class becomes available.
Once you have registered on the Waitlist there is no need to do this again.
Someone dropping out is not very common.
Please also consider booking the next course/class with availability.
Before your course starts:
A single or multi-day course purchase (e.g. puppies/mainstream 9-week course) can be cancelled up to 14 days in advance of the start of the course without any penalty.
After your course has started:
For a multi-day course purchase, you can request a refund by contacting the section head, for their contact details please see https://ndtc.org.uk/contact-us.htm
There are no refunds after the second week of a 9-week course unless there are special circumstances.
If a class needs to be cancelled due to bad weather, too hot, too cold, floods or other, NDTC reserve the right to cancel one session to ensure our dogs well being, every effort will be made to make up for the lost time during the remaining sessions, which could mean a class could be 45 mins instead of 30 minutes on some sessions.
If a second session needs to be cancelled during the same course, please email the section e.g. mainstream@ndtc.org.uk or puppies@ndtc.org.uk etc, stating the date and the name of your course, and requesting you £3.00 cash back, then bring that email with you the next time you are at the club and we will refund you in cash.
Dogs need to be used to working on the handlers left, walk on a loose lead at all times, have a recall and have a good understanding of general basic commands...... so, GCDS Bronze level as a minimum.
